About RetireAbroadCosts
RetireAbroadCosts helps US retirees compare what life costs in popular overseas retirement destinations. Each guide shows a realistic monthly budget as a range (low, typical, high), the costs of a retirement visa and flights, and an honest look at the downsides.
How we make our guides
- Research. An automated research pipeline, built on Anthropic’s Claude AI models and overseen by the site owner, searches the public web for current prices and facts: utility tariffs, provider price lists, official government pages, news reports, and expat and cost-of-living guides.
- Evidence rule. Each cost line must be backed by two independent sources, or one official source. Lines that cannot meet that standard are left out. Every guide lists its sources.
- Ranges, not promises. Where sources only give guidance, the low, typical and high figures reflect a sensible range based on them. Your own costs will differ with lifestyle, location and exchange rates.
- Writing. Guides are drafted with AI assistance. Tables and totals are produced directly from the research data by code, not retyped by the writing model.
- Publishing. Guides are published automatically after automated checks. They are not individually reviewed by a human editor before publication, so errors are possible. Please verify anything important with official sources.
- No invented stories. We do not claim personal experience of living in these places. The perspective is that of a retiree evaluating a move, based on researched facts.
